Drawings and design

We aim to work closely with our Clients to develop a brief that will deliver on appearance, function of the building, costs, budget and timing. Only after you have seen and approved initial sketches will the ideas be translated into detailed designs and we will assist you by briefing other consultants and establishing the views of the local planning authority.

Building Conservation

Historic, or listed, buildings require special expertise. We have knowledge of historic techniques and materials to allow us to survey, design and manage the alteration and refurbishment of listed buildings.

We can establish whether there is the possibility of grants for the repair of buildings of outstanding architectural or historic interest (usually Grade I and possibly Grade II* buildings) or conservation areas from English Heritage or local authorities, provided applications are made before work commences.

Building Regulations

A good knowledge of building regulations is essential from the point of initial design. New building work must be completed to these statutory standards, which may affect window placement, floors, roof pitch and other major structural factors that will determine design suitability.

In order to ensure compliance we prepare detailed drawing and specifications for contractors and inspectors while maintaining an established working relationship with building control officers. We are able to work with them to ensure your building complies with the regulations.

Project management

Once planning consent has been achieved we are able to prepare working drawings and technical specifications for construction. A tender process can be managed based on these detailed plans and we can prepare terms for a building contract appropriate to your project.
